Water Service Providers
Municipal and privately operated water companies that provide drinking water for homes and businesses. Also included are organizations that deliver bulk water to customers in rural areas beyond the reach of existing water lines or to those that prefer to drink bottled water; bulk water stations that serve as a source of drinking water for water haulers; and water vending services which allow consumers to purchase unit servings of water.
Water Resources Conservation
Programs that preserve and protect water resources from indiscriminate losses or waste, improve the efficiency of its use, encourage water-saving practices to reduce costs and slow the depletion of the water supply, and ensure that the supply of quality water is adequate to meet the needs of the public, agriculture and industry.
Flood/Siltation Control
Programs that are responsible for the construction, operation and maintenance of flood control dams, channels, storm drains, debris basins, retention and detention basins, retention ponds, grass-lined swales, pumping plants, spreading grounds and other facilities and structures that control and conserve flood, storm and other wastewater and inhibit siltation of public bodies of water. These programs may also investigate reports of clogged or full catch basins or other problems with the flood/siltation control system, and may offer information about flood, storm and other waste water conservation programs.
