Ontario’s Ministry of the Solicitor General is responsible for public security, law enforcement and policing, emergency management, correctional and detention centres/jails and organizations such as the Ontario Provincial Police, Emergency Management Ontario, and the Office of the Fire Marshal.

Provides probation and parole services to offenders placed on probation and parole residing within the jurisdiction of Halton 
 
Major services:

• complete Pre-sentence reports ordered by the court, and Pre-parole reports for the Ontario Parole Board (OPB)
• provide supervision to adults placed on probation by the Courts and to adults granted Parole release by the OPB
