Description (Service) |
A volunteer-based registered charity providing a program of recreation, socialization and aquatic exercise for stroke survivors * ten weeks sessions in the winter, spring and fall * offered in close cooperation with the Department of Recreation and Culture of the Town of Oakville, and the Rehabilitation Department of OTMH * designed to help survivors overcome the aftermath of a stroke by revitalizing their sense of independence, mobility and overall well-being * participants and volunteers meet at Glen Abbey Community Centre on a Friday, between 9:30am and 2pm * participants are responsible for their own transportation * transportation can also be arranged by contacting care-A-Van at 905-337-9222
Activities include:
- pool activities (light aquatic and seated exercise with the assistance of pool volunteers for survivors of stroke)
- card and Wii games
- stretching exercises
- arts and crafts
- other leisure activities and social times
- special presentations
- annual Christmas luncheon and outings including bowling, pub lunches and theatre shows
