Description (Service)

Provides opportunities to coaches, athletes, parents, and organizations to enhance the sporting experience in Burlington 

  • volunteers interested in preserving sport history assist in organizing special events (Recognition Awards Dinner and Sports Week)
  • supports the values and principles of True Sport and ParticipACTION

Projects include:

  • Annual Sport Recognition and Awards Event
  • Burlington Sports Week and Sports Day in Canada, Burlington 

Recognition Awards (displayed in the Haber Recreation Centre on Dundas St) include:

  • A.J. Dunn Award for Sport Person of the Year
  • Burlington Athletes of the Year (female and male winners in six categories: Junior Athlete, Athlete, Master Athlete, High School, Special Olympics, and Parasport Athlete)
  • Official of the Year
  • Volunteer Sport Builder
  • Champion of Sport (a coaching award)
  • Burlington Team of the Year
