Description and Service Details

Description (Service)

Committee Services

  • provide information to citizens with respect to council and committee procedures, policies and decisions
  • prepare and distribute standing committee agendas and council information packages
  • prepare and give notice as required under the Planning Act and the Ontario Heritage Act
  • record and prepare minutes of standing committee meetings
  • provide administrative support to City Council and its local citizen committees
  • receive applications for volunteer membership on local boards and committees and maintain records for the Committees
  • maintain and update property assessment records
  • provide in-house digital copy and mail services

Council Services

  • manage and maintain City records including by-laws
  • respond to inquiries under Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act
  • provide administrative support to the six ward councillors
  • act on behalf of the Registrar General for the registration of deaths (blank medical certificates available) and issuing marriage licences
  • conduct municipal elections in accordance with the Municipal Elections Act
  • administer group home registrations and renewals
  • provide Commissioner of Oaths services

Marriage Licences

  • a marriage licence may be obtained not more than 90 days prior to your wedding
  • a birth certificate or current passport along with a valid driver's licence or picture Health Card is required as identification
  • Marriage License Online Quick Pass can be submitted prior to going to City Hall
  • completed application must be printed and signed by both parties
  • one of the applicants must be present to have the licence issued
  • a divorced person must provide an original or certified copy of the Decree Absolute or Certificate of Divorce
  • if your marriage was dissolved or annulled outside of Canada, authorization from the Registrar General's Office is required before a licence can be issued

Commissioner of Oaths

  • a document can be signed before a Commissioner of Oaths for a fee
  • available by appointment only
