Veterans Affairs Canada approved Veterans Independence Program (VIP) provider 

Services include:

Non-emergency medical transportation - to medical appointments, trips from and between hospitals, to nursing homes, etc. for individuals requiring a wheelchair or gurney transportation

Activities of daily living assessment - provides an evaluation of an individual's capacity for self-care and their ability to function independently in the context of everyday living

Health Care Services

  • home health care - nurses provide necessary medical services in the homes of individuals who are aged, ill or convalescing
  • in home hospice care - provides a full range of supportive services in their own homes for terminally ill individuals who are in the final stages of their illnesses and for their families
  • palliative care - provides for the comprehensive management of an individual's needs to help them achieve the best possible quality of life through relief of suffering, control of symptoms, etc.
  • podiatry/foot care - provides comprehensive preventive, diagnostic, and treatment services for individuals who have diseases of or injuries to the feet

Support Services

  • friendly outreach programs - for individuals who are hospitalized or in another institutional setting, are socially isolated due to disability or old age, or otherwise lack companionship
  • live in companions - helps individuals who are socially isolated due to disability or old age relieve their loneliness by providing a companion who shares the individual's home
  • telephone reassurance - contacts frail elderly individuals, people with disabilities or others who are vulnerable by telephone on a regular basis to ensure their good health and safety
  • escort programs - accompanies individuals who have limited mobility, cognitive impairments or other problems to specified local destinations and provide assistance (may include providing transportation)

 In Home Assistance

  • errand running/shopping assistance - makes short trips to purchase groceries, pick up prescriptions, go to the bank, etc.  
  • homemaker assistance - assumes responsibility for routine household activities such as menu planning, budgeting, shopping, laundry and general household management including light housekeeping
  • in home meal preparation - prepares and serves meals in the home
  • personal care - provide assistance with personal hygiene (bathing, grooming and mouth care), clothing care, ambulation, seating, toileting, changing beds, etc. 

In Home Respite Care

  • adult respite care - provides a brief period of rest or relief for family members, guardians or others who are regular caregivers for dependent adults
